90%! Must be that “New Math”…

admin | April 18, 2009

Question: How many liberal-Obama flunkies does it take to come up with 90%?

Answer: Who cares?  They’re all wrong!

I know everyone has been overwhelmed lately with the liberal media reporting that America is the new “crime boss”, providing 90% of all weapons used for crime in Mexico.  Yes, it’s the “Big Bad American Wolf” once again being blamed for the world’s woes.  Does this accusation come from a disgruntled dictator or foreign diplomat…no!  It comes from our Presidet and our Secretary of State.  It’s hard enough trying to overcome our reputation to the rest of the world (not that we really should – See coming article under “Michael’s Musings”).

Here’s the scoop on the whole 90% illusion;  90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S.

In 2007-2008, Mexico submitted 11,000 guns to the ATF for tracing. Close to 6,000 were successfully traced (5,114 or 90%) were found to have come from the U.S. But in those same two years, according to the Mexican government, 29,000 guns were recovered at crime scenes.
In other words, 68 percent of the guns that were recovered were never submitted for tracing. And when you weed out the roughly 6,000 guns that could not be traced from the remaining 32 percent, it means 83 percent of the guns found at crime scenes in Mexico could not be traced to the U.S.

So, where did the guns come from?  I know some might say we really need to know, but at this stage in the game, we’ve determined they didn’t come from us, so why is this now our problem?  Yes, yes… an argument could be made that since Mexico borders the U.S. it could potentially become our problem.  Should we ignore the situation, no.  Should we put a huge amount of resources into it right now, no.  Let Mexico deal with Mexico-based problems.  America needs to take care of the problems in its own backyard before it can tackle the rest of the world.
